What is counseling?
Counseling is when you meet on a regular basis with someone who is professionally trained and licensed. As your counselor, we will provide support while helping you identify what is most important to you and things you would like to change. We will also help you explore how to make those desired changes. Our practice incorporates Art, Sand tray, Play, and traditional talk therapies, allowing you to express yourself in a manner that is most comfortable to you. These research-based counseling methods are designed to help you thrive while overcoming difficult or painful challenges. Counseling sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long. The amount of sessions varies from person to person.
What do we treat?
We work with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, adjustment, stress, anger management, attention deficit, and relationship issues. Symptoms related to these issues can include feelings of hopelessness, lack of interest in activities that used to bring pleasure, change in appetite, significant weight gain or loss, difficulty sleeping, excessive worry, irritability, mood swings, and difficulty concentrating. Therapeutic approaches utilized
We utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches based on treatment goals and how an individual processes thoughts and emotions. We use traditional psychotherapy models such as Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Dialectical Behavioral, Trauma Focused CBT, and Motivational Interviewing in a Person-Centered approach. We also utilize Sand tray, Art, and Play therapy techniques to encourage positive growth in non-traditional methods. Having several approaches to pull from allows me to tailor our sessions to meet your specific needs.
